What Is A Scopemeter? Easy and Basic Definition of Scopemeter

What is a scopemeter and it is actually as same as oscilloscope? For your information scopemeter is another name for oscilloscope that is a piece of electronic instrument used to test electrical equipment and enables signal voltages to be viewable. Usually scopemeter comes with its own screen panel so you can view the voltage graphs (wave shape) or if you are using PC Based or USB based you can connect it to a computer and view the wave shape in the computer screen panel. The PC based scope usually requires an installation of scopemeter software on the computer which it is connected to.

Scopemeter is widely used in medicine, telecommunications, engineering, industry and science fields. The general type of scopemeter is meant to be used for maintenance of lab work and electronic items. Commonly used to view and observe the wave shape of an electrical signal. A scopemeter is also can be used to show measure frequency and distortion. It also capable to show time between two events and relative timing of 2 related voltage signals. There are types of scopemeter that able to display and analyze spectrum of a repetitive event. Spectrum analyzer is a special type of scope that has sensitive inputs and it has the capability to display spectra well into the Gigahertz GHz range. Some types of scopemeter that accept pug-ins able to display spectra in audio range.

Scopemeter in the yesteryear has linear amplifiers as signal processing and cathod ray tubes that act as display element. Current scopemeter has LED or LCD display with digital signal processors. Ther are few scopemeter that utilize cathod ray tubes to display single events for a limited time.
